Tree Hanging on The Wall

Photobucket

I think sometimes it pays to look up! You can see an odd scene like this. Who can guess where I took this photo from? :D

Big Foot

Photobucket

A big foot for a big slipper.

This is the second series of my slipper post. As I mentioned a few days ago, Share the Blessings foundation is planning to distribute slippers at three schools in Agusan del Sur.

This is one of the two stores that I bought the bulk of the slippers from. We bought approximately 590 pairs of slippers from this store.

While waiting for the proprietor I noticed this huge slipper hanging in front. Funny I didn't notice it when I first arrived.

If you want to see the recipients of the Slippers project you can visit shareyourblessings.webs.com.

Enjoying The Beach

Photobucket

This is how some people reconcile their love of the beach and their fear of getting tanned.

Balancing Act

Photobucket

I find it funny how the passengers on both sides were talking as if they were at a bench on the park. Complete with hand gestures. Nonchalant.

Taken at Nasipit highway.

This is one of the forms of public transportation here in the Philippines that we call, skylab.

My other skylab post.

Reflection

Photobucket

Pili Drive

To jump or not to jump that is the question. Or as my cousin said, "to ambak or not to ambak dat is da question."

Barring the melancholic picture, I think the man was just doing a sensible thing of keeping cool while passing the time. After I took this picture of him, I heard a number of his friends (and perhaps including the thinking man himself) were heckling, and laughing. I didn't stay long enough to check.

Happy Ninoy Aquino day!

Let there be Light

Photobucket

This decorative lighting is made of plastic cups held together by plastic straws. I would've liked to make the Butuanon readers of this blog to sweat a little by letting them guess where this was taken, but I changed my mind. This hanging ball of light can be found at Uncle Sam's Burger and Steaks.

Working on the Edge

Photobucket

We are, I admit, a nation filled with text addicts. Hooked. Our nimble fingers capable of navigating the keypads even without looking at it-- The memory of its lay out is engraved in our heads.

This guy in the street is selling cell phone load for passersby. Maybe it's off peak time when I took this because there's nobody around buying a load from him.

Photobucket

This was taken at Ochoa Avenue. I have been pretty brave lately with my camera. I used to be pretty shy but not anymore. Not in this case, anyway. =)

That guy in the trisikad is an ice cream man. It's a rare sight because the usual ice cream vehicle has at least a shade over the head of the driver. The two motorcycle riders at the back adds to this photo, I believe. Maybe they're racing together? And with a kid as one of the passengers in the red motorcycle (scooter?) to boot? Crazy. Tsk. Tsk.

I'm a fan of lomography. This one and the following daily photos will show influences of the type of photography. Casual and stress-free.

Transporting a Cow

Using the motorsikad.

Libertad Village.

This post today is on scheduled posting as I am at Cebu by this time. I will be back soon, but I'll still keep on posting daily, if this scheduled posting feature will work as I hoped.

Istambay sa Baybayon

The first resort that we went to was at Veranda Beach Resort. The hotel was fine, unfortunately, my family bemoaned the fact that there was nothing to do in Veranda. The beach is rocky and the sea wasn't very inviting. I remember Carmen as a beautiful albeit rugged place. I knew Carmen is more than what we were seeing. So I looked around for local people to ask. Then I saw this group of guys standing around in the beach. It was low tide. They looked like tiny specks of people in the horizon. They were that far.

The first thing I asked when I got to where they were was what the heck they were doing. I thought they were looking for shells, or whatever sea creatures they were hunting for.

I found out that they were just enjoying the weather and the low tide with their kinilaw (raw fresh fish dish) and tuba (local wine made from sap of palm tree).

Sapatos sa Langihan...

According to my contributor of the day Cathapulan, they were waiting at Langihan Market when all of a sudden her brother said that he'll be back and got out of the car. He saw some shoe peddlers hawking their wares in the street. Of course he had to go try out some Chucks that he saw.
This was the picture. And that is the brother, I think.

Sakto ba Cath?
=)

Butuanons, rich or poor, are fond of ukay-ukay-- (the equivalent of salvation army goods, I think.

Shards of Glass

This is a fence, dividing two neighbors with concrete and glass shards.

This used to confuse me a lot. Are my neighbors trying to tell us something? Or is it something not to be taken personally?

(Thanks dustin for the idea!)

Gigantic Monsters

I took this photo when I went to the park last week. Ants are nothing extraordinary (Except maybe for entomologists) nor Butuanon related but these guys gave me the creeps. They were huge! Almost an inch big! So I'm posting it here-- and share the heebie jeebies with you.
