Tabo-an Photo #1

There's so many things I want to articulate when I see this photo I took at Tabo-an last Sunday. But I think I'll just let this photo do the talking.

One Saturday Afternoon in Magsaysay Bridge #3

Skylab (Lenovo S921)

This photo was also taken during the first photo- walk activity by Butuanon Mobile Photo-Walk Facebook Group (add this group everyone is welcome!).

This form of public transportation is my favorite one to take photo of: the "skylab".

In Cebu, they have scooters with their own uber- like app going around the city picking up passengers. In Butuan (actually anywhere in the Philippines), this is a common mode of transportation especially those remote locations inaccessible by four-wheeled vehicles.

Under Magsaysay Bridge Life

I took this photo for our first Butuanon Mobile Photo-Walks Group in Facebook. Our route was supposed to include going to Brgy Banza but since there were only two of us (who I browbeat in coming with me), I decided to go below the bridge instead.

I never expected to like the experience. Oh I know I'd get good sunset photo with Magsaysay Bridge as its background but I never expected cool, fresh air and such a friendly bunch of people! I loved it. This photo was taken using my old cellphone: Lenovo S921.

Butuan Street Portrait 2018 #1: Skylab Photography

Photo was taken with Fuji Xe1+ Samyang 12 mm

It's Saturday, January 13. I was supposed to be at the Philippine Port Authority (PPA) early in the morning if I had decided last night to join a photo contest. I only made the decision to at least take some photos of the Fluvial parade that was supposed to take place at 4 in the morning at 8 am.

As expected, there were no boats, no parade, no people in Agusan river that I could see at 10am when I finally got there. Hilarious. There were college students (probably) playing volleyball in the PPA grounds though. I could've taken their photos sure, but I wasn't in a street portrait or street photography frame of mind that time. I was overcome with shyness that sometimes paralyzes me especially when I'm taking street photos.

I thought that since I was there I hoped I could take at least one photo that I could use for my blog today. When I went back to the car I saw this guy drove in with his "skylab." (To those who don't know, we call motorcycles attached with wings-  able to carry passengers or various pieces of luggage (or boxes of beer), skylab.) And voila, a lightbulb figuratively flashed and I immediately asked the skylab pilot if I can take a photo of him. He nodded (Wow, I couldn't believe it) so  I took his photo quickly with the camera I still was holding. He drove off the moment he saw me put down my camera. I didn't get the chance to ask him questions, ask his name or to ask for more photos. But-- I'm so glad I overcame my shyness and just asked! I got my photo of the day, the first street portrait of this blog for the year and most of all I didn't waste the time I could've done studying with this photo! :D Thank you, sir, for agreeing to be my model for today.

There is a photo contest for the Kahimunan Festival, the fluvial parade was supposed to be one of the activities to be included in the said contest. Click this facebook link for more information.

Buwad Vendor

This photo wasn't taken in Butuan but I'm gonna cheat and post it here anyway. This sight is common in whatever place you visit. Go to any market here in the Philippines and chances are you will see people selling dried fish there. By the way, buwad (dried fish) are, according to them, quite cheap in La Paz (where I took this pic). For a bunch of buwad it costs only 100 pesos.

And by the way, it tastes good!

Rain Water, Ankle Deep

First of all I would like to apologize for the bad quality photo. It was dark,  I was riding a tricycle, and I was only using my phone hereby producing this still ultra cool photo (jk).

Anyway, the rainy days has started in earnest. And Butuan's drainage systems couldn't cope up with the rain. Several areas around Butuan was flooded last night. Good thing was, the deluge stopped after an hour or so. Early today the flood has subsided until it started raining again at 4pm. I hope those houses in low lying areas won't be too affected.

New Mcdonald's

I took this photo last night with my phone's camera. What you see is the second McDonald's in Butuan that's currently being constructed. I don't know yet when is the opening.

It'd be interesting how it will fare. The place is at the center of the city- and across Jollibee.
