Historya by Antigo

Last year my friends invited me to have coffee and chika (chat) at this new place in Marcos Calo, Butuan City called Historya by Antigo. We had this dessert called Arroz Turrones. It's basically a fried "elongated" sticky rice dessert (usually encased in a banana leaf) topped with vanilla ice cream. My mother usually fries her budbod so it wasn't an unusual thing for me- but for my friends it was. Since it's served with ice cream- the experience was enhanced two-fold. Anyway, we ordered different menu from last time. I just wanted to tell you what are some of the food they offer. They offer an elevated art form of some of the local delicacies, with a twist.

Last Monday I ordered Banana-Mango smoothie and my friends ordered Bottarga pasta and Antigo's mom salad. We enjoyed the food that we shared. I'm not a practiced foodie blogger but all I know is that I enjoyed everything. I loved the banana- mango smoothie, it made me want to try all the smoothies on the menu. It's not too sweet and I tasted the full banana flavor mixed with a hint of the sweetness of mango.

I'm not a big salad eater too- although I was the one who suggested we order one (New year's resolution everyone!). My friends said they should've used a different kind of lettuce. In the end, we still finished everything anyway.

If you haven't been by Historya by Antigo Cafe you should come and drop by. The ambiance is great. There are locally sourced ancient relics and art as decor. It shares its business with a flower shop. You can just imagine how homey yet chic everything is.

Capitol Building at Night

Photobucket

Taken with my ol trusty camera and my mini tripod. Will try to attempt taking pictures at night again soon. :) Btw, only a couple of days to go before christmas :)

If you're wondering at all the people in front of the building- well, they are taking pictures too. Of themselves. Cheers.

Sunday Night at the Park

Photobucket

This photo was taken right after the mass ended at around 7pm. There are people everywhere. Most of the people who heard mass hanged out at the park to enjoy the well-lit, newly-decorated-with christmas-lights plaza.

I didn't catch it in this photo but there were a bunch of those new glimmering toys that one throws a hundred feet up in the air (not sure about the distance) jumping up and down as we pass through the park.

My friend commented at facebook (I link this blog to fb) that I should ask some funding from the local government (tourism) because of my endorsement of Butuan. My reply is the "liking," repeat visits, your valuable comments, occasional click on my ads, not plagiarizing my stuff, acknowledging and return linking to this page, and maybe (cross fingers) future donation on my site are enough for me. :D

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

G-Subd

Photobucket

Today is the Feast of St. Joseph. Although I spent the day just staring at the computer monitor like a zombie- so I don't have something fresh- I still have a "festive" kind of picture to post today. This was taken at G-subd bar and disco, one of the newer hang outs here in Butuan.

After the alumni homecoming most of the groups/batches leaves for a new location for a more private party. We decided at the last minute to go here. They have a VIP (you can have a videoke party if you want), and disco and of course the drink all you want gimik that hooked us in. Unfortunately at that time we only have an hour before the promo ends. For 100 pesos you can drink all you want but only up to 12 midnight.

Stalls at Night

Photobucket

It's the month of May a very important month for the city of Butuan. May means Fiesta to be celebrated on the 19th. Our patron saint is Saint Joseph.

One thing that you'll notice when its nearly fiesta time are the stalls that suddenly appears almost overnight along the AD Curato street, more specifically beside Butuan Central Elementary school and Agusan National High School. I took this photo before my auntie and cousin left for Australia the next day.

These stalls are the favorite of my relatives to go to especially if you're looking for cool necklaces with native flair, summer clothes and even kitchen utensils.

P.s.

I want to congratulate Manny Pacquiao for winning today!

Reggae music, laidback sounds. This is one of Butuan's hang-out.
