Diwata

Diwata, Carmen, Agusan del Norte

Diwata definition---In Philippine mythology, a diwata or encantada is a mythological figure similar to fairies. They are said to reside in large trees, such as acacia and balete. They are the guardian spirits of nature, bringing blessing or curses upon those who bring benefits or harm to the forests and mountains. (www.nationmaster.com)

There are some supernatural stories circulating in this area hence the name of the place. (But in my usual fashion I forgot to ask someone about it until the moment when I'm about to post my photo of the day.)

Diwata Cave Resort is also another popular destination for tourist to go to in Carmen. The caves, friendly people and the spectacular view of the sea are more than enough to make people go back again and again- despite the less than pleasant road condition. I know, I'm going back there soon. =)

The word "diwata" just reminds me of the word "dewata" which in Indonesian means the realm of gods. This photo just looks like it. Wonderful, Layrasyski.

Lyra, it's beautiful!!! Kapag mapapadpad kami sa gawing diyan (asa pa), hihingan kita ng directions to go to Diwata. I even love the name! Are those huts places to eat? The seas down there are obviously not for swimming.

Sorry for disappearing again. I had to fight off a bug by taking medicine at night and sleeping early. I couldn't afford to get sick and have to miss work — at least not this week. I'm lucky I caught it very early.

baruch, sharon, frankie/nick, hope--- thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed your trip from my side of the world.

Kayni--- You agree with me! hehehe thanks! Although its not really totally up to me. That place has a totally magnifiscent view.

Eki-- Although diwata in our language means supernatural creatures your version of dewata is I think is more apt to describe the place. I really should've asked around for stories so i have some to tell you guys.

babooshka-- glad you enjoyed the view! =)

jm-- that tree is adds a lot to the overall look of the photo, doesn't it?

kris-- I don't believe so. Its quite rocky below the cliff.

supergirlhero-- do you have a story to tell about that place? =)

hilda-- Sure! that is about the coolest place near from where I live. Hahaha. But be prepared for a bumpy, exhausting ride. =)

anyway, I think u can dive there but in the dark blue part but not in the green part. I think thats very rocky, not that deep and look at the waves. U would'nt want to hurt yourself bumping all those rocks hehehe.

Yup, lots of stories :) My mom's family lives near there, and when I was in high school, we used to go there a lot. Mysterious and abrupt changing of weather the minute someone steps on the sea, for one :)
