Hidden Gratitude

Photobucket

My companions were still busy looking at the alimango (crab) and shells when I spied this sign, almost hidden by the papaya leaves, across the dusty road. This sign shows that we are either shy about our thankfulness or we are so serious about it we had to build a sign as a symbol of our thankful spirit! What do you think?

Libertad Barangay Hall

Photobucket

This was a photo was taken at Libertad Barangay Hall.

There are a lot of health activities at Libertad everyday judging from the this photo, (and from my personal experience too). I took this picture last Saturday so the health center was close for business.

Barangay is what we call our smallest government unit. If I remember my history lessons correctly, it is taken from the word "balanghai" which is a boat used during the pre-hispanic period.

By the way, if you were with me during the beginning of Butuan Daily photo, balanghai artifacts (boats) can be found at Butuan National Museum at Barangay Libertad. You can check my old posts here and here. You can also check out this article about balanghai that I found.

Sign Part Uno

'If you have banana, and coconut husk (probably what it says) to sell, just follow the arrow.'

A sign found along the Ampayon (?) highway.

(Are they buying whole banana husk? or whole banana, and whole coconut husk? I can't tell what exactly what they want to say.) Anybody who can shed light on this sign? Its been bugging me every time I happen to pass this way.

***

And since this blog is about signs I would love to hear from my anonymous long time (2-3 months long) regular readers. A sign that you're not a figment of my imagination would be nice. :)

Heartening Happenings

It is so nice to hear good news for a change. Blogging about Butuan has opened my eyes in a different way. My vision is sometimes so limited that I lose track of things around me. One good thing with this site is that I see is how people are silently working in the background for the betterment of our city. It may not be apparent at first glance but they are there doing something to make a difference.

I have another photo of Mindanao Volunteers but I lost it. *Kicks dirt*

Snapshots of Butuan-- For Butuanons Abroad

I have been taking photos of Butuan landmarks and stuff as my personal collection. Since I have all these of photos I thought that Butuanons, especially the ones abroad, might appreciate snaps of Butuan at present (late 2007-early 2008)

WELCOME TO BUTUAN CITY!

Under the New Bridge---Since Butuan's second bridge is probably too exposed by now I thought I'd post the below the new bridge action for a change.
