Dinner at The Island

Dinner with friends at The Island Restaurant at JC Aquino Street. As I remember it we had chicken barbecue each, sisig, and pancit canton.

Burger Multiplied by Two

When I was in Manila I've seen a lot of stalls selling buy one take one burgers. I tried one once when I was really hungry but it was like eating paper. Tasteless. When I got back from my trip I saw Rose bakeshop selling this buy one take one burger promo too but I was hesitant to try it because of my previous experience.

To cut it short: Rose bake shop's burger is now a regular snack for me and my cousin. 32 pesos for two burgers is a good deal. It is more flavorful than one would expect. Although that same cousin will be observed muttering, "meat extenders...mmmm...good," every time she eats one.

Hungry? Have a slice...

One of the newer pizza shop in Butuan is Calda's pizza, best known for its super thin crust and giant sized pizza. My cousin and her friend went there earlier for a late snack/early dinner after our out of town trip. Two regular pizzas ordered and 5 slices of pizza eaten and we were done. Yum.

Goat 2 geder

It seems to be an unlikely name for a hotel and restaurant but Goat2geder is gaining the reputation of being the place to stay in Butuan.

It started as a small fastfood (?) selling mostly dishes made from goat at its previous location at Doongan-Ambago. Today its one of the hottest hotel and restaurant in the city (despite the name he he he). I can't vouch for taste of the goat dishes but I hear its good, if not the best.

It's one of the hotspots in the city.

True Brew

After dinner at the new grilled chicken restaurant, my friends invited me to True Brew, a must-visit coffee shop in Butuan. I had cafe mocha, as usual. =)

Sari-sari

This is an example of a sari-sari store. Sari-sari is roughly translated as varied, different, diverse (help?). Sari sari store as the name implies sells different things. It depends on the sari-sari store but you can buy sugar, junk foods, charcoal for barbecue, softdrinks etc. etc.

Of course you do. If you haven't been in Butuan for a long time they now have a cafe shop at Zamora Street. Its a another favorite place for Butuanons to be (seen) at. Expect to see folks of every age and sizes bringing their laptops as they enjoy the hotspot that is Margie's (and Pan de Pugon)

While walking around any city in Mindanao, you won't fail to smell a tantalizing, mouthwatering aroma wafting from smoky shops.

Anticipating and Salivating

I get excited at the simplest of things. This time I'm quietly anticipating the opening of this new restaurant, Rosario's Grill House. It's currently being constructed along J.C Aquino Avenue besides the Uncle Sam's(?) and one other eating place that I forgot already. Don't worry I'll find out other facts soon.

I hope the food is going to be good. Ohhh!
