An Update

Old Photo File Series # 5

This is "ginanggang na Saging" or grilled (?) banana coated with margarine. This is another way of cooking banana. I like it... in its smoky, margariney kind of way. :)

Okay the updates are: First- I lost my all of my photos from my laptop (This means all the photos I took with my Fuji S5700) and Second- my Internet provider has gone bonkers again. Anyway, I'm still giving Globe the benefit of a doubt because they're kind of new in Butuan. But I have to say Philcom dial-up is more reliable than they are. Dirt cheap too. Sigh.

So I'm here at this busy-busy Internet cafe with my USB thumbdrive. Its a good thing I have this banana photo left for me to post here.

And... the essays are not finished yet. Sheesh. I'm writing those things so I can apply for a scholarship. I don't know when the heck I will stop with this learning business. =)

By the way, thanks a lot for the comments. I hope I can get back to you tomorrow. Take care!

Sorry you lost all your photos---that stinks. I had to reformat my computer last week and lost everything as well....it was very frustrating.

I'm sorry your internet is sucking lately---but I'm glad that's all it is....Whenever you don't show up for a day or a few I get worried.

:)

there is more I wanted to add:

concerning the essays/scholarship application: congratulations to you for doing this. I often wish i had continued my education before having kids---the idea of going back to school now seems so daunting.

Don't feel too bad about the lost photos. I'm sure you'll take more photos soon =). I've never tasted grilled bananas. I can't imagine how it would taste. It doesn't look like it taste anything close to the usual banana cue.

Hah! I'd love that ... yummy.

In Bandung, they are called "pisang bakar" (grilled banana), and I love it.

That looks good. In fact, I was craving for some boiled saba this afternoon. Grilled is ok too, but maybe not with the margarine.

Sorry to hear about your lost photos..

Technical problems are frustrating, I know that! I think that I might try cooking some of these from Henry today.

Hmmm… I've never tried cooking saba like this, at least not with margarine. Have you tried grilling it with chocolate? It's yummy!!!

Sorry to hear about your laptop and photos. You can always take more photos, but I hope you didn't lose too many more important files in there.

Masters? Abroad or here? Good luck with the applications! I never bothered with the graduate degrees unlike the rest of my family — I just took certificate courses depending on what I was/am into. I like re-inventing myself every seven years or so. ;D

Oops, make that "like the rest of my family." I really have to re-read my comments before posting…

Losing photos is a horrible experience. I just lost a bunch myself and I'm none too happy about it.

Great photo! I'm always looking for new recipes that involve banana. Here, if they aren't eaten while still slightly firm, they end up in puddings or bread.
