So after looking at the famous body of water from afar for 28 years, I decided that its finally time to see it up close. A few balanghais were excavated from around this area. It is the longest river in Mindanao. And if my memory serves me right this is the place where a golden figure of a woman made of gold was found. According to Butuan Museum, the original can now be found at Chicago Museum. All we have left is a replica.
After using my powers of detection(google) the golden woman that I mentioned is called The golden Tara. You can see the photo by clicking here. And it wasn't found in agusan river but at wawa river, esperanza. I'm gonna find out more about this as soon as I get my butt out of my sofa.

Shouldn't the golden statue belong to the museum there? I'd like to know how it went to Chicago.
That's what I thought the first time I read the description at the museum. I'll try to find the reason why its not in the Philippines anymore. My first idea why is security. I don't think there's enough budget for guarding the statue. But I'll try to find out!
beautiful pictures, you mentioned in that you use a camera with 2 mega pixels or mobile phone. amazing! you must have the talent/ skills :)
btw, nice to meet you, thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment :) will come back here again :)
Hi vlado&toni! Thanks for visiting and the lovely comments too. My photos are mainly taken with my Fuji finepix its a 7 megapixel camera, but I reduced it to 4. The huge size annoys the heck out of me. hehe. If my collection dwindles, or I want to use old photos I use one one taken with my other cameras.
I posted photos from my two megapixel camera on my sunsetmindanao blog. You may want to check it out. Hehe
hi! found your blog via technorati linking to my blog. i intend to return to Butuan one of these days and visit Bood promontory and take that river cruise. where can iride those boats forthe cruise or is it just a daily thing for locals?
Hi,
I really look forward to your daily photos as someone living away from Butuan.
When you find time can you take some pics around the Obrero District area?
I have fond memories of that area.
Tutubi--I've read somewhere about a proposed river cruise to boost tourism but I haven't seen one for myself. The boat ride is a daily local thing. Bood Promontory... I've heard so much about it but haven't visited it yet. I will soon! Thanks for visiting!
anonymous- Hi! Thanks for the comment. Where exactly in Obrero are you talking about? I'm not really familiar with that area, not very laagan and all. hehe
